Tadhg Long Catering is an established young business, 8 years in operation with a small dynamic team of 10. We cater to the private, retail, corporate and contract client.
The main business operates from a production kitchen in Ballinhassig however we have two off-site canteens in large pharmaceutical plants in Cork. We supply shops, delis and our own artisan bakery and gluten-free store in Ballinhassig with dishes from our TLC Foods dine-in range.
We also specialise in providing healthy and nutritious meals to teams both pre and post games and training sessions. We have worked with Cork County and Inter-County GAA teams as well as rugby and athletics clubs for over 5 years, and have gained a fantastic insight into what it takes to fuel the body for the demands of today’s athletes.
TLC recently became members of the Love Irish Food group which helps promote Irish producers.
Catering Assistant 25/04/2019 – Position filled
Currently seeking a catering assistant for 30-40 hours per week to join our small team in a busy environment. Full drivers licence and own transport required. Weekend, morning and evening shifts.
Preparation of food to assist the chefs. Packaging of the TLC Foods range. HACCP record keeping. Customer service in any of our off-sites when required, these include our canteens, private and corporate outside catering events. Customer service in our new gluten-free store, once opened. Previous experience is not essential but is an advantage. Full training will be provided.
Chef de Partie 07/05/2019 – position filled
Currently seeking a Chef de Partie to join our busy dynamic team. We operate from a central kitchen but have off-site premises also, therefore a full driving license and own transport is necessary. This role would be ideal for candidates who are looking for a change from a hospitality kitchen and would like more work-life balance.
Monday to Friday, 7 am – 4 pm, one evening per week and one weekend per month
Preparation of food to assist the head chef. Packaging of TLC Foods range. HACCP record keeping. Preparation of Hot and Cold Buffets. Learning and cooking to in house recipes and ensuring consistency of same. Baking bread, scones and cakes. Preparation of desserts. Chef at corporate and private outside catering events – BBQ’s, Pizza parties and Buffets, GAA teams
Requirements and Qualifications
Previous experience is required. A can-do attitude, be able to work from own initiative and a team player. Full driving license as you will be required to drive the company vehicles. Large batch cooking, physical strength required.
Kitchen Porter 09/07/2019 – position filled
We require a kitchen porter to join our team in Ballinhassig. We are looking for a Kitchen Porter to clean our kitchen and support our cooking staff. This is an entry-level job but if you’re good at it, you’ll be invaluable in making sure our kitchen is always sanitized and tidy. If you think you’ll enjoy the buzz of a busy kitchen, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you’ll help our kitchen adhere to health standards and help keep production at maximum levels.
Kitchen Porter responsibilities include washing pots and pans, keeping floors clean, sanitizing food preparation areas and occasionally helping with food prep work.
Keep all kitchen work surfaces (counters, sinks, stoves, walls) clean and sanitized. Sweep and mop floors at the ending of shifts. Be ready to clean up spills to avoid hindering operations. Wash cookware and utensils fast to keep them in rotation. Arrange equipment and ingredient deliveries. Keep the food and supply storage areas organized. Take out the garbage. Help with routine food prep tasks (such as peeling and chopping vegetables) when needed.
A fast learner with an interest in kitchen work and the ability to stand for long hours. Willingness to adhere to health and safety rules. Good organizational skills. The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment. Patience and cool-headedness
